Why This Book Exists

When someone you love is diagnosed with macular degeneration, the standard response from medicine is "watch and wait." Monitor the progression. Hope it doesn't get worse. When it does, inject drugs into the eye to slow—not stop—the damage.

This book exists because "watch and wait" felt like giving up. Because the same molecular signatures appear in drusen and arterial plaques. Because if we understand heart disease as metabolic, why not AMD?
